So, I live in the UK and OPI polishes are a MASSIVE rip off here.. they cost around £11 in stores but are purchasable from online retailers (eBay) for up to half the price (including shipping) so I always purchase from trusted US sellers and have never had any issues, there is an extra positive to this form of online shopping.. receiving packages! Who doesn't like presents through the post?... Anyway..
I purchased the entire OPI Vintage Minnie collection a couple of weeks back, at a saving of £20 (including shipping) and received it the day before yesterday!
This is 3 coats of I'm All Ears with 2 coats of Nothin' Mousie 'Bout It on the thumb and ring fingers! Just look how glowy and reflective it is (but ignore my dryyy fingers!) This photo is completely colour accurate (on my computer)
I'm All Ears is supposedly a dupe for Butter London Disco Biscuit, I'll save judgement on this until my birthday then I'll do a comparison.. When I initially inspected the colour I saw a bright magenta gold flake polish, a beautiful glass fleck and it instantly struck me as being a lighter version of OPI Let Me Entertain You (from the Burlesque collection).. I pulled out a few similar shades from my OPI stash to have a look, (L -R) Wing It, Be A Dahlia, Wont you?, I'm All Ears and LMEY.
Wing It clearly isn't in contention as a dupe, it has a much more orange toned base with pink/blue flakes. BADWY is similar but has a cooler base and smaller gold flakes. LMEY is more like a darker version of BADWY but has the same size gold flakes as IAE. Whatever, they're all gorgeous!!
The formula: Quite thick but by no means unmanageable, due to the jelly/glass fleck finish 3 coats were required for opacity, but if you have no issues with a bit of VBL then 2 would suffice. Smooth, glossy finish and quick dry time.
I think I'm All Ears deserves an 8 out of 10.. It's gorgeous but not particularly unique.
Now, on to Nothin' Mousie 'Bout It..
The only thing I had to compare this too was Nicole by OPI Love Your Life, they both have the same little pink hearts but are COMPLETELY different..
Ok, this is embarrassing.. I swatch them in reverse order! LYL on the left, NMBI on the right..
Anywho, Love Your Life is a thin clear polish with iridescent micro-glitter and baby pink heart-shaped sequins.. Nothin' Mousie 'Bout It possibly has a clear base but it's so jam packed with tiny pink, lilac and golden flakes that you'd never know! It is incredibly thick and difficult to work with.. I actually think in some ways it'd be nicer WITHOUT the hearts, and I'm a sucker for sequins.. but anywho, it's super cute and girly and really complex for a pink polish!
The hearts settle into the bottom in both polishes, regardless of the thickness of the base and it is easier to fish out the hearts from LYL due to the thin base & small brush, so if you just like the hearts then NMBI most likely isn't the polish for you.
I'd give NMBI a 7 out of 10, if it was a bit thinner and the hearts were easier to fish out of didn't exist it'd most likely be a 9.5.. it's freaking beautiful!
